The Memory Clinic Consultant

Professor Narinder Kapur, FBPsS

Narinder Kapur trained at Queen’s University Belfast, and at the Aphasia Research Centre in the Boston University School of Medicine. He has previously worked as Head of Neuropsychology at the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton, and at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He is currently consultant neuropsychologist and acting Head of Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (Charing Cross Hospital), and he is also visiting Professor of Neuropsychology at University College London. In addition to his NHS work, he has a private practice in London. He is past President and a founder member of the British Neuropsychological Society. His main research interest is human memory disorder, and also paradoxical phenomena relating to the human brain, which is the subject of his recent book The Paradoxical Brain. He has an interest in how memory aids may benefit neurological patients, having set up the first Memory Aids Clinic in the country while in Cambridge.

In his clinic, Professor Kapur sees patients who may have memory or other cognitive difficulties and are concerned that they could have an underlying brain disorder. He also sees patients who have suffered a brain injury or brain illness, and need advice on how badly they have been affected and on any therapy which may help.
