Dr Michael Gross writes “During my formal training I undertook a six month secondment with Dr Eileen Smith, a consultant psychologist who both trained and showed me the benefits of clinical hypnotherapy”. Clinical hypnotherapy can help many conditions including a number of psychological and emotional issues, helping people stop smoking, help with weight loss or assist with improving sleep. It even helps in the management of chronic pain. This can include headaches, migraines, neck and back pain as well as helping people with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
 
Clinical hypnotherapy is a relaxation technique. No individual would do anything that they wouldn’t want quite contrary to what is presented for instance with stage hypnosis.
 
The therapist will discuss the nature of the problem that needs help. They will explain the process of what is called induction and a number of different techniques that can be used in order to induce that relaxed state.
 
Depending on the nature of the issue different styles of hypnotherapy technique can be used to unravel the nature of the difficulty or to work with improvement. There really is nothing to fear and most people will feel very comfortable with the treatment and find that this treatment often combined with other therapies can be particularly helpful.
